The roots of individual motorization were laid during the German empire, which the author describes clearly and concisely. This volume uses a data set of all early adopters to empirically present the class affiliation of drivers (with many individual examples of personalities from aristocracy and the bourgeoisie who were well-known at the time), regional distribution, and the vehicle types used – from luxury vehicles to motorcycles.
